The Federal Government has recently passed legislation to increase access to the instant asset write-off.
The Government is increasing the instant asset write-off threshold from $25,000 to $30,000. The threshold applies on a per asset basis, so eligible businesses can instantly write off multiple assets. Assets must be purchased and first used and/or installed ready for use by 30 June 2020.
Medium sized businesses will now also have access to the instant asset write-off. Businesses with an aggregated annual turnover less than $50 million will be eligible to access to the instant asset write-off.
Take advantage of this today on our huge range of Sorghum Fingers, Double Disc Shanks, Row Units and Gas/Liquid Trailers. Call us on 02 6721 2677 or visit www.bossagriculture.com.au.

Itโ€™s been a tough start for first time dryland cotton grower Tom Greentree of โ€œQuisisanaโ€ Mungindi. After a challenging winter crop in 2018, Mr Greentree decided he would plant a summer crop to utilise the stored moisture on his fallow country.ย  Tom purchased a new BOSS 18 metre planter fitted with DX50 units and Precision Seed Metering from BOSS Agriculture to give his crop the best start possible. Mr Greentree configured his planter on 2 metre spacings with the ability to quickly convert his row spacing back to 1500mm if he decided to plant sorghum in the future. โ€œThe team at BOSS were able to design my row units so we can easily slide them between 2 metre and 1.5 metre spacings, which will give us some different planting options if neededโ€. Mr Greentree planted 780 hectares of Bollgard 3 after good rain in early November, โ€œThe ground conditions were a typical dryland scenario with uneven moisture in the top 2-3โ€ of soil. The BOSS trash whippers gave us a more even seedbed, and the hydraulic Delta Force by Precision Seeding we had fitted worked a treat, keeping our planting depth spot onโ€. Mr Greentree planted 10 seeds to the metre and was able to achieve an average of 8 seeds per metre establishment. โ€œOur crop establishment was excellent, we had a very even germination which was great as we have only had a 14mm rain event post plantingโ€.

Mr Greentreeโ€™s 18 Metre Linkage BOSS Planter was one of many built by the Inverell manufacturer this year. Warren Anderson from BOSS Agriculture said many dryland growers are looking for more accuracy and longevity from their summer planting equipment, โ€œOur DX50 row unit coupled with Precision Seedingโ€™s Technology gives our customers a highly accurate robust precision planter. This allows dryland growers to really improve their crop establishment without the ongoing high maintenance normally associated with this equipmentโ€. Although Mr Greentree has had a promising start to the season, it is now a waiting game to see how it finishes. At this stage crop in tracking at 6 to 7 nodes above white flower with hope that some rain will fall soon to finish the crop.

Check out our new 18 Metre Narrow-Fold Bridge Frame design and Airseeder being delivered to a customer near Condobolin!ย  Our planter frames are transported largely assembled.ย  This means the on-site setup time is usually less than a day, a significant time saving which also means reduced crane hire costs and minimal parts handling/assembly for a better finished product.

On Monday 28th of January Peter Mansur lost his brave fight with brain cancer. Pete is survived by his wife Georgia, three sons and their families Derek & Shannon , Drew, Hannah & Grace, Chad & Maryanne.

Pete was a valued member of the Boss Engineering family and will be deeply missed by all. As one of the founding partners Pete loved watching Boss grow into the business it is today. Pete was always interested in what was happening at Boss even when he was in the final stages of his battle with cancer. Peteโ€™s desire was for Boss to continue to thrive into the future.

Brain cancer is a devastating illness that needs so much more research. Pete has left a mark on many lives and for those who would like to do something for Pete the family have asked that a donation be made in his name to the brain cancer foundation. You can donate at curebraincancer.org.au

Pete will be cremated in a private ceremony.

You will never be forgotten Pete

Leading up to the 2018 planting season Boss Agriculture was asked to manufacture a narrow transport 18 metre wide parallelogram tyne machine, most 18 metre parallelogram tyne planters are too wide to be legally transported on the road without a police escort. The engineering team at Boss Agriculture went to work and developed a unique folding system that allows the 18 metre wide planter to fold up under 6 metres wide, this fills a gap in the market for large scale contractors andย broadacre grain producers with non connecting farms to be able to transport their equipment legally and conveniently (check your local authorities for specific rules & regulations in your area).

Boss Agriculture put four of these machines into the field for 2018 winter plant with great results. These narrow folding Bridge Frames are now available in row spacingโ€™s of 333mm, 375mm, 400mm & 500mm.

Our new narrow-fold seed planter โ€“ designed and built from the ground up in Australia โ€“ went on show in Victoria for the first time at this monthโ€™s Elmore field days.ย  We introduced our fresh-faced 6m Slimline Planter, assembled in-house at our production facility at Inverell in northern NSW.

The Slimline Planter is a brand-new venture for us and is a break-out from its established range of planters of nine to 30 metres in width. First unveiled at Agquip in August, the Slimline comes with 190mm (7โ€™5โ€) and 154mm (6โ€™) row spacings and weighs up to 9380kg with bins empty, though loading up with fertiliser and small seeds can take working weight up by five tonnes. Designed for sowing pasture, fodder and cereal crops, the planter folds narrow for easy road transport without the need for a pilot vehicle in most areas.

The machine is available either with a frame-mounted air seeder or in tow-behind. Taking the first option means gaining 4500 litres in capacity in a twin bin, plus the possibility of adding a 600-litre small seeds box. Or without the frame mounted bin a customer could use an existing tow-behind airseeder they may already own. The seed box is accessed using folding steps, non-slip platform and seed bag table.

Single or double disc, precision double disc and tine-compatible, the machine has 26 degrees of wing flex for ground-following ability and, when combined with parallelogram row units, offers consistent seed placement over uneven terrain. Connections are drawbar or two-point hitch, bin lids are hydraulically operated and sight-glass windows in the main bin means product levels can be easily checked.

2018 marks the 10 year of BOSS Engineering!ย ย Formed in 2007, in Inverell Northern NSW, BOSS found itself servicing the expanding mining, agriculture & transport sectors. Over the years BOSS has continued to adopt the latest design, engineering and manufacturing techniques. Our state of the art facility currently comprises 27,000 square metres(under roof). This is significantly greater than the original work area from 2007 and has been driven through the continued growth in demand for our products. See the full article about our 10-year anniversary at The Land.
